I wanted to create something that fit the musical ideas of the overall game while sticking to the general theme of the boss fight.

In the OST of the game, there is:

1. Consistently strong rhythm within each track
2. One/two strong leitmotifs within each individual track, with strong repetition and slight variation
3. Usage of instrumentation of very different styles (mix of electronic/non-electronic instruments)
4. Usage of music from very different genres (this is especially true in the boss fights!)

In the spirit of the points listed above, I wanted to make a track that stuck with the theme of a water/ocean type boss, but reimagined the theme to be more of a fight in stormy weather 🌊

In the actual boss fight, you're fighting against an ensemble of instruments. I didn't want to replicate exactly the instrumentation used in the original track, but I kept to the spirit of it by including some strings, woodwind, bass, and an acoustic and electric guitar (plus drums). I imagined the different sounds and instrumentation to create an ebb and flow of tension like waves in stormy weather.

Lastly, I stuck with a couple of really simple leitmotifs that signify the different instrumentation in the boss fight and varied them slightly over the track.
